in 1976 she was a global celebrity when she scored the world's first perfect 10 on an asymmetrical bar in the Montreal Olympic Games. And, to top it off she scored six more perfect 10s, making her the youngest overall Olympic gold medalist in history, at just 14 years old. Nadia Comaneci didn't just draw worldwide attention; she also helped put Romania in the spotlight. The sports icon came into the the spotlight after achieving a record-breaking score, thus in creating legends and increasing the popularity of gymnastics as a game across the globe. She changed the way that people saw female gymnasts. Her impact was so significant on this Olympics that the uneven bars competition has two moves named after her - toe-on and release. These moves still are assessed at a very difficult level. Her performance was also impressive at World Championships, European Championships as well as the Olympics.
